Of course this condition is very unpleasant for them who have nail fungus problem. To reduce the thickness of the nails usually people use Carmol 40 (Topical).

More about Carmol 40

There are two types of ingredients in this medication (keratolytic, emollient) that work together to cure or to prevent dry, rough, and itchy skin. Dry skin is caused by a loss of water in the upper layer of the skin. Emollients are substances that soften and moisturize the skin and decrease itching and flaking. Emollients, as moisturizers, work by forming an oily layer on the top of the skin that traps water in the skin. And keratolytics increase moisture in the skin by softening/dissolving the horny substance (keratin) holding the top layer of skin cells together. This helps the dead skin cells fall off () and helps the skin keep more water in. Keratolytics also used to help remove dead tissue in some wounds to help wound healing. It is the reason why Carmol 40 can helps people with nail fungus (Onychomycosis)

Something that you must know before take Sporanox

Have you heard about Sporanox?

Sporanox is an triazole anti fungal antibiotic. The generic name for this drug is Itraconazole, invented in 1984, and marketed as Sporanox by Janssen Pharmaceutica.

Sporanox is used to cure several types of serious fungal infections (blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, and aspergillosi) which can attack any part of your body including the lungs, mouth, or throat. Sporanox also can be used to cure onychomicosis (the scientific name for the nail fungus) which commonly attack toenails or finger nails of our feet. Sporanox may also be used for other medication purposes.

Something that you must know before take Sporanox!

Are you allergic to intraconazole or similar medications such as fluconazole (Diflucan) or ketoconazole (Nizoral)? If yes, you cannot take Sporanox. Also do not take Sporanox if you have ever had congestive heart failure or if you are pregnant or may become pregnant during treatment.

There are many other medicines that can interact with Sporanox . You should not take Sporanox together with cisapride (Propulsid), dihydroedrgotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal), dofetilide (Tikosyn), ergonavine (Ergotrate), ergotamine (Ergomar), lovastatin (Altocor, Altoprev, Mevacor), methylergonovine (Methergine), midazolam (Versed), nisoldipine (Sular), pimozide (Orap), quinidine (Quinaglute, Quinidex, Quin-Release), simvastatin (Zocor), or triazolam (Halcion). Other drugs that should not be taken together with Sporanox include astemizole (Hismanal), or levomethadyl Orlaam) (these drugs are no longer available in the U.S.). And other things that may harm you if take it both together.

Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor. Before taking Sporanox, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, a history of stroke, a heart rhythm disorder, kidney or liver disease, a breathing disorder, cystic fibrosis, or a history of “Long QT syndrome.”

Sporanox capsules should not be used in place of Sporanox oral solution (liquid) if that is what your doctor has prescribed. Make sure you have received the correct type of this medication at the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist if you have any questions. Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.

How much Sporanox cost you?

More or less 180 generic capsules cost $360. If a patient is prescribed three capsules twice daily for the minimum of three months, the patient would spend more than $1080 and consume over 540 capsules. The possible loss of motivation to spend thousands of dollars for continued use therefore constitutes a threat and a risk for the fungus to regrow in the body.

If you do not want to spend thousands of dollars to cure fungal infection you can try other nail fungus treatment which cost you less.

If you have any experience with Sporanox, please… write a comment, we really appreciate it.

Causes of Nail Fungus Infection

You can get a nail fungus infection when you come in contact with the fungus and it begins to grow on or under your nail.

Nail fungus infections are usually caused by dermatophytes (a fungus group). But nail fungus infection can be appear if there are yeasts and molds on your body.

All of these microscopic organisms live in warm, moist environments (including swimming pools and showers). They can infect your skin through small unseen cuts or through a little separation between your nail and nail bed. They cause problems only if your nails are continually exposed to warmth and moisture, a perfect condition for the growth and spread of fungi.

The risk to be infected by nail fungus will be higher if you have a condition called onycholysis (the separation of the nail from the skin beneath).

Common Symptoms of Nail Fungus Infection

Symptoms of nail fungus infection will depend on the type of fungus infection you have. Nail fungus infection can cause unpleasant feeling but is usually not hurt you at the beginning and Athlete’s foot is often present.

The most common nail fungus infection, distal subungal onychomycosis, is caused by dermatophytes. It infects both the nail and the nail bed (skin underneath the nail). Dermathophytes cause approximately 90% off all nail fungus infection. Some common symptoms if your nail infected by demathophytes:

• Your nail distorted in shape
• Yellow stripes in the nail bed and on the underside of the nail.
• Dry, with no luster or shine.
• Buildup of bits and pieces of skin and nail fragments (debris) under the nail.
• Easily broken, crumbly or ragged.

(Infected nails may also separate from the nail bed, a condition called onycholysis. You may even feel pain in your toes or fingertips and detect a slightly foul odor.)

The second most common nail fungus infection that also caused by dermatophytes is white superficial onychomycosis. This type of nail fungus infection appears on the nail surface. Some symptoms of white superficial onychomycosis:

• White stripes or spots on your nail surface.
• As the infection gets worse, your nail surface becomes soft and powdery.
• Your nail surface color becomes brown of gray and crumbly, however the nail does not separate from the skin underneath.

And there are two types of rare nail fungus infection. Candida onychomycosis and Proximal subungal onychomycosis. Candida onychomycosis is a fungus infection that causes approximately 1% of fungal nail infections. Proximal subungual onychomycosis is a rare fungus infection, only less than 1% off all nail fungus infection, it affects to many people infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

Fungus can infect your nails

Infection of nail fungus happens if a fungus attack one or more of your finger nail, a toenail, or the skin below the nail (nail bed). Fungus can infect your nails through little cuts in the skin around your nail or through the area between nail and nail bed.

Nail fungus infection maybe won’t cause serious problems if the condition of your body (immune system) is healthy. But you should as soon as possible cure the infection before the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, because it may not only cause your nail to discolor, thicken and develop crumbling edges – an unpleasant and potentially painful problem. (If you have diabetes or a weak immune system, fungal nail infection could lead to more serious health problems. Talk to your doctor about the best way to treat a nail infection if you have one of these problems.)

Nail Fungus Infection usually develop on nails continually exposed to warm, moist environments. Nail fungus isn’t the same as athlete’s foot, which primarily affects the skin of the feet, but at times the two may coexist and can be caused by the same type of fungus. (check, nail fungus symptoms)

An infection with nail fungus may be difficult to treat, and infections may happen again. But medications are available to help clear up nail fungus.
